A professor's impressions of culture, education, life and travel to South Africa.

Sheila Whitley was born and grew up in High Point, North Carolina. In August 2001, she joined the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication faculty as assistant professor and broadcast production coordinator. Whitley came to North Carolina A&T State University in February 1984 as the Visual Communications Specialist for the Agricultural Research and Extension Programs in the School of Agriculture. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Higher Education Administration from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, Greensboro, North Carolina; Master of Arts in Educational Media from Appalachian State University, Boone, North Carolina; B.A. in Radio, Television and Motion Pictures from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and an A.A. Literary from Wingate University, Wingate, North Carolina.
